Hexpel: First look at the puzzle screen
A quick update on Hexpel — our first commercial launch. Hexpel is a gentle word-puzzle where you create as many four- to seven-letter words as possible from seven letters arranged in a hexagon.
We’ve decided to target Android devices first, with the initial release planned for the Google Play Store in the coming weeks.
The prototype was originally built for the PC, and we’ve spent the last few days making the game mobile-ready. The application has been redesigned to be functional, logical, aesthetically calm, and easy to pick up and play.
Here’s the first look at the main puzzle screen. We’ve chosen a colour palette reminiscent of a Sunday newspaper, a single sans-serif font, and a simple grid to place the various elements. There’s still plenty missing, but the game is now functional and runs cleanly on our test devices.

There’s a long way to go before launch. Gesture interactions are still in progress, and the Android lifecycle needs more work. In the coming days, we’ll be focusing on the secondary screens, their interactions, and the supporting visual elements.
More updates soon.
